PARKING
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATIONS
The goal of the Parking and Public Transportation Division is to provide an adequate parking service by increasing the supply of available parking spaces, enforcement of parking ordinances and maintenance of parking facilities (garages) and equipment, and event parking - adequate and efficient community transportation services for the general public, senior citizens.

The goal of the Parking Division is to provide an adequate parking service by increasing the supply of available parking spaces, enforcement of parking ordinances and maintenance of parking facilities (garages) and equipment, and event parking.

GARAGES AND SURFACE LOTS
Rates are $ 0.50 per hour with maximum of $ 4.00 per day.
Monthly rate is $ 44.00 at garages located downtown.

HANDICAP ENFORCEMENT
The City of Huntsville in conjunction with the Advisory Commission on Accessibility locates and enforces Handicap Parking on a city wide basis. Fines for illegally parking in a Handicap space are progressive -
1st offense $ 50.00; 2nd offense $ 100.00; and 3rd offense $ 500.00.

METERS
All parking meters are enforced Mon thru Fri 8 AM - 5 PM.
The rate is $ 0.50 per hour.
Meters are not enforced on City of Huntsville's recognized holidays.

The goal of the Public Transportation Division is to provide adequate and efficient community transportation services for the general public, senior citizens, physically challenged citizens, commuters, and individuals with limited transportation alternatives.

SHUTTLE BUS SYSTEM (fixed route)
Operates Mon thru Fri from 6 AM to 6 PM on eleven (11) routes (maps & time schedules) covering more than 175 miles of city streets each hour of service. One of these routes is the Tourist Trolley Loop. It targets city attractions and motels and restaurants. (Tourist Loop Brochure) Shuttle fares (one-way) $ 1.00; $.50 for seniors (60+), students , Medicare Card holders, and the physically challenged, and children 6 and under. Trolley Fares: ALL DAY = $ 2.00; or $ 1.00 per trip. Seniors (60+) and Disabled Citizens, Valid Medicare Card holders, Children 6 and under, student with valid student ID $ 1.00 all day or $ .50 per trip. In addition to being available from Bus Drivers on all Buses, complete system maps and schedules are distributed at 15 facilities.

HANDI-RIDE for seniors and disabled citizens
Operates Mon thru Fri from 6 AM to 6 PM. This specialized, door-to-door, demand-response paratransit service is available for physically challenged residents. Medical certification as well as 24-hour advance reservation are required to schedule this service. The ten vehicles and the backup vans are radio dispatched and accessible for ADA compliance. RIDESHARE
RideShare is a computerized service for working commuters. The service links commuters with potential carpooling companions. To sign up for this service, commuters must complete a RideShare Information Request form. Companies can also request that the RideShare coordinator conduct on-site surveys to help their employees develop carpool relationships. In December, 2001, the RideShare database contained 1200 commuters. RideShare has contact with approximately 30 of Huntsville's largest employers.
