Public Safety Director Releases Statement on Investigation of Officers

 

Huntsville, Alabama (April 24, 2008) Public Safety Director Rex Reynolds said the Huntsville Police Department has completed its internal investigation surrounding suspected policy violations by two Huntsville Police Officers. The investigation did not reveal any evidence that existing cases made by either Officer were tainted by illegal planting of evidence; however, the Department now feels that the Officers’ actions warrant review by the District Attorney’s Office for possible criminal charges.

 

Reynolds said the Officers will remain on administrative leave while the cases are under review and determination is made regarding their presentation to a Madison County Grand jury. Reynolds added, “The command staff of the Huntsville Police Department feels confident in its internal investigation and the unfortunate direction the cases must now take.”
