Online Police Reports
Huntsville, Alabama (September 16, 2008)
The City of Huntsville Department of Public Safety is pleased to
announce the beginning of a new program that will enable individuals involved in
traffic accidents within the city limits, to download these accident reports
from the internet. September 16, 2008 is the beginning date for traffic
accidents that are accessible on-line. Individuals will be able to sign on to
the internet using two different web-pages:
http://huntsvilleal.policereports.us or
www.hsvcity.com/police.
Links on the search page are easy to follow. Access to reports require the
report number, date of the accident and a last name of a driver. Once the
search is completed, the system will prompt for a credit card number or an
account number if a business or insurance company. The fee for the accident
report on-line is $12.50, or citizens can continue to obtain copies of the
reports at the Records Division Office at the Huntsville Police Department
during regular business hours for $10. The State of Alabama requires that a SR13
form be completed by each driver involved in an accident. This form is
available for free on the web-page. On-line accident reports will enable the
public and/or insurance companies to retrieve the accidents after a 72 hour
processing time without having to drive to the Department of Public Safety
Building at 815 Wheeler Ave, and wait in line. Locating and downloading your
accident report on-line only takes a few minutes and can be accessed from any
computer with internet capability. The Department of Public Safety is very
excited about this new program being offered to the public and the benefits that
it provides.
