    The goal of the Public Transportation Division is to provide adequate and efficient community transportation services for the general public, senior citizens, physically challenged citizens, commuters, and individuals with limited transportation alternatives.

    SHUTTLE BUS SYSTEM (fixed route)

    Operates Mon thru Fri from 6 AM to 6 PM on nine (9) routes (maps & time schedules) covering more than 175 miles of city streets each hour of service. In addition there is a FREE Downtown Route on Friday & Saturday from 5 pm to 12 pm. It targets city attractions and motels and restaurants. On Friday evenings a UAH Campus Route runs through the campus housing area with main stops at the Wal-Mart Supercenter, Target and Bridge Street Town Center. Campus Shuttle runs most Friday evenings from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m.. Please call for a schedule at 256-427-6811.

    Enjoy a muffin and coffee on a vintage-inspired trolley bus winding its way through Downtown Huntsville and the Twickenham Historic District. Tour Guides offer 60-minutes of significant, humorous, and legendary stories of Huntsville's Past!
    Tours originate at Alabama Constitution Village, 109 Gates Ave. each Saturday at 10am, June-September.

    Senior (65+) and Disabled Citizens and Medicare Card Holders........$ .50

    In addition to being available from Bus Drivers on all Buses, complete system maps and schedules are distributed at 15 facilities.

    Service animals are welcome on all City of Huntsville public transit vehicles.

    HANDI-RIDE for seniors and disabled citizens

    Operates ADA Paratransit Service for individuals with disabilities who because of their disability are unable to use the fixed route buses. This specialized, door-to-door, demand-response paratransit service is available Monday thru Friday from 6 AM to 6 PM. ADA Paratransit service application and advanced reservations by 5pm the day before are required to schedule this service. The 14 vehicles are radio dispatched and ADA accessible. Call 256-427-6857.

    CommuteSmart Huntsville

    CommuteSmart Huntsville is a computerized ridesharing service for working commuters. CommuteSmart offers free online ridematching, vanpool services, and employer and commuter services. To sign up for any of the services all you have to do is register on the CommuteSmart website: commutesmart.org/huntsville/
