HPCAC to host public forum on Hands-Free Driving Ordinance, May 14

City continues plans to upgrade street sweeper program

The City of Huntsville is continuing to move forward with upgrading and expanding its street sweeper program. City Administrator John Hamilton updated the City Council on the program in a presentation at Thursday’s meeting. City approves contract for repaving residential streets

Funding to begin Phase 2 of Huntsville’s residential street repaving plan for this fiscal year has been approved by City Council. Grayson Carter & Son Contracting Inc. won the $6.2 million contract to improve 54 neighborhood streets within the next 10 months. Mayor Tommy Battle’s 2023-2024 budget includes about $18 million for street improvements. Phase 1 of the repaving plan resurfaced 68 residential streets. City of Huntsville approves project to support affordable housing

City of Huntsville leaders approved a project to build a 42-unit multi-family development partially supported by American Rescue Plan (ARP) funds to provide safe, affordable housing for the homeless and other vulnerable groups. The facility will be constructed on Venona Avenue, on land owned by Neighborhood Concepts Inc. City of Huntsville municipal offices will be closed Friday, Jan. 19, due to continued travel issues from this week’s winter weather event. Huntsville awards contract for Pratt Avenue streetscape project

The City is moving forward with a construction project that will spruce up a gateway to Monte Sano from the Five Points district. A contract with Grayson Carter & Son Contracting Inc. will make streetscape improvements along Pratt Avenue from Russell Street NE to Maysville Road NE. The total cost of the project is $789,490.52.
