Will Culver, Representing District 5, was elected to the Council in 2008.
Will Culver was appointed Chief Magistrate with City of Hunstville Municipal Court in February 1997 and served in that capacity until May, 2008. Prior to working with the court, Will served as a Huntsville Police Officer where he worked first, second, and third shift patrol. He went on to become one of the first Drug Abuse Resistance Education Officers (D.A.R.E.) in the State of Alabama and was instrumental in helping to train and certify other law enforcement agencies throughout the southern portion of the United States who sought to implement the D.A.R.E. Program in their communities.
Will is the youngest of nine children born to the late Florence Horn Culver and Will C. Culver of Abbeville, Alabama. He was educated in the Abbeville public school system. He graduated from Alabama A&M University with Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and a Master's Degree in Business Administration. Will furthered his studies at Auburn University in Montgomery where he earned a Master's in Justice and Public Safety and later went on to earn a Juris Doctor Degree from Birmingham School of Law.
In October 2008, Will was elected to represent the constituents of Huntsville City Council, District 5. In addition to his work on the council, Will serves as an Adjunct Professor of Criminal Justice Studies at Alabama A& M University and is President and CEO of Service Essentials, Inc.
Will currently serves on the boards of Cummings Research Park, Community Action Partnership, Quality Assurance Board for the Madison County Department of Human Resources, and the boards of Ability Plus and Partnership for a Drug-Free Community. He also serves as Co-Chair of the City's Finance Committee. Will is a graduate of Leadership Huntsville/Madison County and is a member of the current Leadership Alabama Class. He is an Associate Minister at Union Hill Primitive Baptist Church where he serves as a Trustee Board Member and as Youth Pastor at Calvary Church of the Nazarene.
Will is the proud father of 4 children: Lashundra, Kinte and Dominique and the late Michael Andrew Culver.
