MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Division of Community Development is three-fold; stabilization of lower income neighborhoods, economic empowerment of lower income persons and of persons living in lower income neighborhoods, and providing assistance to special needs segments of the population.

Housing programs
Rehabilitation of rental housing units
First time home buyers program (pilot program)
Infrastructure - Construction of sewer, drainage, street and sidewalks
Recreation Projects
Construction and rehabilitation of neighborhood parks and other community facilities.
Code Enforcement
Enforcement of City ordinances related to the following:
Unsafe buildings
Substandard housing
Junk and litter
Tall grass and weeds
Overweight truck parking
Inoperative motor vehicles on right of way
Abatement of public nuisances.
Economic Empowerment
Grants and loans to projects which increase the economic well being of lower income residents and residents of lower income neighborhoods.
Special Needs
Grants and loans to support projects which benefit population groups identified as having special needs.

The properties listed were in violation of the City of Huntsville Nuisance Codes
for grass and weeds, junk and litter, or housing code violations. The owners either failed or refused to voluntarily comply and the City had to abate the nuisance and place a lien against the property.
