The function of the Department of Public Safety is to protect and serve the citizens and property within the City of Huntsville. The Department's divisions are: Police, Fire & Rescue, and Animal Services. The men and women of the Department of Public Safety are committed to ensuring public safety and improving the quality of life for everyone who lives in, works, or visits the City of Huntsville. The Director of Public Safety is appointed by, and responsible to, the Mayor of Huntsville.
