Elkmont Woman Charged with Arson and Attempted Murder
Huntsville, Alabama (April 16, 2007) A joint investigation between Huntsville Police and Huntsville Fire & Rescue has led to the arrest of a care giver being charged with Arson 1st Degree and Attempted Murder. Rex Reynolds, Director of Public Safety announced today that 41-year-old Tina Louise Spencer, an employee with Carlton Cove, was booked into the Madison County Metro Jail on Saturday morning. Spencer is a resident of Elkmont, Alabama and employed at the Huntsville facility.
Eighty-eight year-old Ann Hudson, a patient, received 1st and 2nd degree burns over her body. She was transported to Huntsville Hospital by HEMSI.
Reynolds said Huntsville Fire & Rescue responded to an alarm at Carlton Cove, 1 Carlton Cove Blvd, in southwest Huntsville about 7:41 Saturday morning. Firefighters determined that the fire was suspicious and not accidental. Investigators with HPD’s Arson Task Force and the Fire Marshal’s office began to question employees as to who may have set the fire in the bedroom where Hudson was the only patient. Reynolds congratulated the quick response by the investigative teams in solving the case. The investigation is ongoing and no motive for the arson was released by authorities.
