Huntsville Public Safety Director Names Homeland Security Coordinator

 

Huntsville, Alabama (March 17, 2008) Huntsville Police Officer Robert Bingham has been assigned as Huntsville’s first Homeland Security Coordinator. In making the announcement, Director Rex Reynolds said, “Bingham’s experience will be a valuable asset to our agencies in the scope of homeland security.” Bingham, a 13 year veteran with the Police Department also serves on the Police Department’s Hazard Devices Unit. Bingham has previous experience as a Counterintelligence Special Agent with the U.S. Army before joining the Department.

 

Police Chief Henry Reyes said Officer Bingham is assigned to the Joint Terrorism Task Force as a liaison for the Department and he will continue to serve on the Bomb Squad, while assuming an intelligence and information sharing role with other local, state and federal agencies. In cooperation with law enforcement agencies, emergency management, and area businesses, Bingham has completed a geographic specific buffer zone protection plan for the community. He will continue to work with both Police and Fire & Rescue to ensure compliances with the National Incident Management System. Additionally, Bingham will serve as the liaison with other Homeland Security Coordinators within the state.
