2 Charged With Arson

Huntsville, Alabama (July 09, 2008)  At 3:13 PM on July 8, 2008 Huntsville Police along with Huntsville Fire and Rescue responded to a suspicious fire at 608 Kennan Road.  After putting the fire out, investigators with the DPS Joint Arson Task Force reviewed burn evidence and determined  the fire was arson.  The investigation eventually led members of the task force to two suspects.  Steve Wright and Terrance Taylor, both 19 years old, were arrested for Arson 2^nd degree.

Huntsville Police Sergeant Burnie Stedham said the occupants of the home were not at home when the fire begin.  Members of the community cooperated with investigators to help solve the crime.  Both offenders were booked into the Madison County Metro Jail.  There were no injuries. 

The Joint Arson Task Force is a collaborative effort between Huntsville Police and Huntsville Fire & Rescue.  The task force investigates all arson case within the Huntsville city limits.  Since the formation of the task force in December 2006, the clearance rate for arson cases has increased over 50%.
