Qualifications for Office

All Candidates must have been a resident of the City for at least ninety days prior to the election, and must be a qualified elector of the City. Candidates for election from Districts are required to reside within the limits of their Districts during the term of office.

The qualifying fee for the Mayoral election is $200.00.

The qualifying fee for the City Council election is $100.00.

The qualifying fee for the Board of Education election is $50.00.

July 1…………………………Candidates May Begin to Qualify at 8:00AM City Clerk-Treasurer's Office, 3rd Floor of Municipal Building, 308 Fountain Circle.

July 15………………………Last Day to Qualify by 5:00PM.

August 15…………………Last Day to Register to Vote for General Election.

August 21…………………Deadline to Apply for Regular Absentee Ballot for General Election.

August 26…………………Last Day to Return Regular Absentee Ballots for General Election.

August 26…………………Election Day.*

September 26……………Last Day to Register to Vote for Run-off Election.

October 2……………Deadline for Applying for Regular Absentee Ballot for Run-off Election.
