| The Star of Alabama - About the Logo |
Huntsville's new logo brings a fresh, modern graphic approach to the look of our city. Known within City Hall as the "Star of Alabama," the logo represents a culturally and technologically diverse city both coming together and reaching for the stars.
The image begins with a traditional five-pointed star, nested within red stripes evocative of the State of Alabama flag. The star itself is divided into four sections of various colors: a blue point representing aerospace, a yellow for the missile defense industry, purple for the arts, and green emphasizing both our heritage from the land surrounding us and our commitment to preserving it for future generations. The sections all come together in a sweeping forward motion, leading Huntsville into the future.
The logo was created at the request of Mayor Battle by award-winning art director and graphic designer Kim Brown, of BBD Graphics. David Driscoll and Paige Rucker of The Driscoll Rucker Group and City Chief of Staff Trent Willis coordinated the implementation. Brown designed the "Star of Alabama" as a gift to the city.
