On March 29th, 2005, the Huntsville Police Department received a donation in the amount of $10,663.00 from Pastor Robert Somerville, Director of Christ our Passover Celebration. This is an annual celebration where churches from throughout the city come together on the Tuesday evening before Easter.  This year they decided to designate the offering received during the evening’s event to the City toward one of the community needs to both bless and provide a Christian witness to our city.  Through conversations with Mayor Loretta Spencer they decided the Police Department would be benefited by this offering.  Chief Rex Reynolds accepted this offering on behalf of the Police Department with the offering being used to replace some of the bulletproof vest for the protection of our officers.
