Narcotics Agents Shut Down Major Drug Traffickers

 

Huntsville, Alabama (April 2, 2007) On Sunday, April 1, Investigators with the Madison-Morgan County Strategic Counter Drug Team (STAC) concluded a six-month investigation into a major drug trafficking ring operating in North Alabama. Sgt. Gerry Norris said Agents arrested two major drug suppliers at a gas station in Madison. Rafael Rodriguez Nunez (DOB 10-18-1979) and Hugo Garcia Nunez (DOB 09-05-1984) were arrested and charged with Trafficking in Cocaine. Both subjects listed Oneonta, Alabama as their home address, but the two also have ties to Huntsville and Decatur. Norris said they seized four kilograms of cocaine with a street value of approximately $640,000. The men were booked into the Madison County Metro Jail where they are currently being held on $500,000 bonds. Norris said this is a Mexican drug enterprise that STAC has been trying to dismantle for some time.  He added the arrests will strongly disrupt drug operations in North Alabama.
