Huntsville Police Charge Man in Robbery and Shooting

 

Huntsville, Alabama (June 13, 2007) Huntsville Police with the North Precinct have charged 1 suspect and they are searching for another in a Wednesday afternoon home invasion that occurred about 1:30. Police spokesman Wendell Johnson said Claude Ford (no age) was inside his home at 6413 Thistle Lane when two men broke into his home to rob him. As the two suspects were leaving the house, Betty Smith Lanier was entering the house and they attempted to rob her. As she ran from the house, one of the men shot her multiple times.

 

As police arrived, they spotted 21-year-old Jeremiah Eugene Humphrey and arrested him. After questioning Humphrey, they charged him with Attempted Murder, Burglary 1^st Degree and Robbery 1^st Degree. He will be booked into the Madison County metro Jail. Meanwhile Johnson said Laniers injuries are not life threatening. A second unknown suspect is still at large.
