North Precinct Investigators Charge Man with Church Copper Theft

 

Huntsville, Alabama (August 10, 2007) On August 9^th, North Precinct Investigators Chris Hines, Dave Williams and Michael Eichhorn charged a man with stealing $240.00 worth of copper, but leaving $105,000 worth of damage to a church. Spokesman Wendell Johnson said Wesley Devon Walter, age 32, has been charged with Theft of Property 1^st degree and Criminal Mischief 1^st degree. He was booked into the Madison County Metro Jail.

 

Johnson said the investigation began when copper was stolen from the Life Church at 3912 Pulaski Pike sometime during the week. The air condition coils were located at a salvage business. Johnson said Walter allegedly used a fake name to sell the copper. Investigators checked with the business, got a description of the suspect’s vehicle and located the vehicle at Walter’s apartment at 555 # 142 Executive Drive. Johnson said Walter’s was out on bond awaiting trial on a previous copper theft case.
