Huntsville Police to Run Checkpoints Through Labor Day Weekend
Huntsville, Alabama (August 17, 2007) The Huntsville Police Department’s DUI Task Force is participating in a grant that will allow Officers to run checkpoints beginning Friday, August 17, 2007 and run until Tuesday, September 4, 2007.
Police Chief Henry Reyes says the Department will participate in an over-time grant from the North Alabama Highway Safety Office through ADECA. The DUI Task Force will begin setting up checkpoints tonight through Tuesday, September 4th. Reyes said according to the State of Alabama, the grant will allow Officers to concentrate at intersections that are considered the most dangerous for traffic crashes. The “Over the Limit, Under Arrest” campaign is a state-wide effort to catch people under the influence and insure they obey all posted traffic signs and speed limits.
