Huntsville Police Charge Two from Weekend Shooting Incident

 

Huntsville, Alabama (October 30, 2007) Huntsville Police have charged a man with two counts of Attempted Murder after he shot at Officers over the weekend.

Spokesman Wendell Johnson said Officers were dispatched Saturday, October 27^th at 11:55 p.m. to 2914 Moss Road on a report of shots fired. When the Officers spotted Michael Anthony Novoa, age 22, he fired a weapon at the Officers who returned fire. No one was injured in the shooting. Novoa was also charged with Burglary 1^st degree and booked into the Madison County Metro Jail. A second suspect, 27-year-old Todd Justin Gurley was charged with Burglary 1^st degree.

 

Johnson said the shooting is under investigation by the Huntsville Police Department’s Internal Affairs Division and Major Crimes Unit. After their investigation is complete, Chief Henry Reyes will convene a Shooting Review Board to determine if the two Officers followed departmental policies and procedures in the use of their weapon. Representatives from the Madison County District Attorney’s Office and Huntsville City Attorney’s Office will be present at the Review. This is normal procedure for any police involved shooting.
