  Huntsville Police Supervisor Receives Award

Huntsville, Alabama (December 10, 2008) On December 8, 2008, Sergeant Mark Shahan was recognized for his exceptional service to the community.  He was awarded the 2008 Law Enforcement Commendation Medal by the Tennessee Valley Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution.  Sergeant Shahan supervises the Traffic Task Force and the Motor Carrier Safety Units of the department.  He conducts statistical analysis and directs the enforcement actions that impact crashes and accidents with injuries and fatalities.  He is also instrumental in planning, staffing and providing traffic control and security at all of the City’s major events and festivals.  Some examples of his successful assignments are Panoply, Big Spring Jam, Rocket City Marathon, Veteran’s Day Parade and Trail of tears, to name a few.
