Major Crimes Investigators Make Major Arrest in Two Unsolved Murders
Huntsville, Alabama (January 11, 2008) Investigators with the Huntsville Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit have closed two unsolved homicides from last year with the arrests of two individuals. Spokesman Wendell Johnson said two offenders have been arrested by other agencies and await extradition back to Huntsville, Alabama. Jeremy Termayne Story, age 19, of Huntsville was arrested in Brevard County, Florida on a warrant for his participation in the murder of Margarito Lopez. Lopez was killed on Newson Road on November 23, 2007. Story will be held by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Department until he is extradited back to Madison County.
Johnson said in a second case, Timothy Lee Luther, age 28, of Dayton, Tennessee has been arrested on a murder warrant and is being held in the Rhea County, Tennessee jail. Luther was arrested for the murder of James Michael Griffy who was killed in his Executive Drive apartment on December 11, 2007. Luther was Griffy’s room mate at the time of the murder. He too will be extradited back to Huntsville to stand trial on murder charges.
Police Chief Henry Reyes said our Major Crimes Investigators have spent many hours questioning witnesses and suspects, analyzing forensic data and working with other agencies to bring these two cases to a close and eventually to trial. I want to assure families of other murder victims that we will continue to work just as diligently to bring suspects to justice in their cases.
