Huntsville Police Arrest Thirty-three at Checkpoints

 

Huntsville, Alabama (January 2, 2007) The Huntsville Police Department arrested 33 people for Driving Under the Influence during the New Years Eve weekend. According to Sgt. Juan Joyner, DUI Task Force, 3 of the arrests involved juveniles, 2 were felony DUI’s and 3 were drug related offenses. The checkpoints were set up from December 29th – January 1st, 2007. Officers also issued 117 citations for various traffic related offenses and impounded 20 vehicles. Last year the Task Force made 22 DUI arrests over the New Years holiday weekend.
