Huntsville Police Charge Suspect With 1 of 2 Murders
October 19, 2005 (Huntsville, Alabama) Investigators with the Huntsville Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit have charged 22-year-old Demitrius Hope with the murder of 36-year-old Michelle Bradshaw. Police spokesman Wendell Johnson said Bradshaw’s body was found about 3:30 this morning at the intersection of 10th Avenue and 2nd Street. She had been shot to death. Witnesses at the scene gave Police a description of the suspect and the white 4 door Acura vehicle he was driving. A Huntsville Police Officer spotted Hope about 5:00 a.m. at the Cowboy’s gas station at Holmes and Jordan Lane. He was pumping gas when he was taken into custody.
As Investigators questioned Hope, the body of another white female was discovered at Brown and Langford about 7:30 this morning. She had been shot and her body dumped in a vacant lot. Johnson said the woman’s body has been taken to State Forensic Labs to determine her identity and time of death. Hope has not been charged in connection with the second murder, but he remains a suspect. That investigation remains ongoing. Hope was booked in the Madison County Metro Jail. No bond has been set. Johnson said today’s homicides were the City’s 14th and 15th for 2005.
