Huntsville Police Investigate Officers’ Involved in Shooting

 

October 21, 2005 (Huntsville, Alabama) Huntsville Police have identified the homeless man shot by Officers Thursday afternoon, but they have been unable to notify the next of kin.  Police spokesman Wendell Johnson said the Department would withhold the man’s name until we can contact family members.

 
Johnson said as a routine procedure, the two Police Officers involved in the shooting are on administrative leave with pay.  He said as soon as Internal Affairs and Major Crimes wrap up their investigations, Police Chief Rex Reynolds will convene an Incident Review Board to determine if the Officers’ actions were within Departmental policies. The Board will then turn its findings over to Chief Reynolds who will then review the facts and render his final decision. Johnson said the Department would not discuss the shooting any further until all of the facts are known.
