HPD Investigator Given State Polygraph Award
Huntsville, Alabama (October 30, 2006) Huntsville Police Investigator Kathy Pierce has received the Ron Decker Award of Excellence from the 2006 annual Alabama Association of Polygraph Examiners. This award is the highest honor bestowed upon an examiner by the Association. Ron Decker, also known internationally in the field of polygraph as the “Wizard”, is considered by many as the father of modern polygraph. The award is given annually to the examiner who most exemplifies their dedication and professional commitment to the field. Investigator Pierce is assigned to the Major Crimes Unit working child sex abuse cases, and keeping track of convicted sex offenders. She became part of the HPD Polygraph Unit in July 2005. Chief Rex Reynolds said, “We are honored as a department by Investigator Pierce receiving this award of excellence; this is another example of the true professionals our department is blessed to have serving our city.” Pierce a 24-year-veteran with the Huntsville Police Department has established an outstanding reputation among the law enforcement polygraph community. Polygraph examiners from eight other states utilize Alabama’s annual training because of its high degree of excellence.
