Huntsville Police And ATF Investigate Pipe Bomb Suspect
November 4, 2005 (Huntsville, Alabama) Officers with the Huntsville Police Department’s North Precinct and Bomb Squad have confiscated dozens of PVC Pipe Bombs from a residence at 219 Richmond Drive. Police spokesman Wendell Johnson said 45-year-old Wynton Ford was allegedly manufacturing the bombs inside of his shed in the backyard. Police confiscated the bombs and other evidence and the case will be turned over to Agents with the Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
Johnson said Ford was charged by HPD on a misdemeanor, Obstructing Governmental Operation when he resisted arrest. The investigation began when residents in the community complained about shoots being fired. Then Officers discovered juveniles were allegedly purchasing bombs from Ford. Johnson said the PVC pipe bombs are extremely dangerous. They can cause serious injury or death. ATF Agents will now consider Federal charges against Ford for Possession and Manufacturing the bombs. Federal charges include serious jail time and large fines.
