Three Teenagers Killed in School Bus Crash
Huntsville, Alabama (November 20, 2006) Investigators with the Huntsville Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit say a third Lee High School student has been killed as a result of a crash between a school bus and a small compact vehicle. Police spokesman Wendell Johnson said 17-year-old Tanesha Hill died at Huntsville Hospital as a result of her injuries. Earlier today, 17-year-old Christine Collier and 18-year old Nicole Ford died.
Meanwhile traffic on Westbound I-565 remains open. The exit ramp from I-565 west to highway 231/431 will remain closed indefinitely during the investigation. NTSB and the Alabama State Department of Transportation are also involved in the investigation.
This is a two vehicle accident. Johnson said Investigators believe at this time there was not a third vehicle involved. The orange Toyota Celica at the scene was the only other vehicle involved. Investigators have spoken with the drivers involved in the accident along with witnesses and students who were on the bus.
