Huntsville Man Charged In City’s 41^st Traffic Fatality

December 2, 2005 (Huntsville, Alabama) Eric Leamon of Huntsville has been charged with Manslaughter and Assault in the 1^st Degree as a result of a traffic accident Thursday evening. Police spokesman Wendell Johnson said the 26-year-old was traveling too fast, had been drinking, and misjudged the stopping distance, when he lost control of the 1998 Buick he was driving. The car crashed into a utility pole near the intersection of Stringfield Road and Blue Spring Road. Alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash. One passenger, 73-year-old Sam Clemons was killed (manslaughter). Another passenger, 5-year-old Marion White was injured (assault). White was transported to Huntsville Hospital East.

Johnson said other occupants in the vehicle, 29-year-old Marion Mantrell White, 25-year-old Jennifer Ramirez and 26-year-old Eric Leaman were transported to Huntsville Hospital.
