Additional Details Released On Police Involved Shooting

 

Huntsville, Alabama (December 5, 2006) HPD has released the name of the driver who was shot and killed early Sunday morning by two Police Officers. Spokesman Wendell Johnson said 23-year-old Mario Lopez Ayala of 3815 West Wind Circle Apt. 6 was the driver of the vehicle who allegedly tried to run down one of the Officers. Meanwhile, Johnson said they have identified the passenger inside the vehicle and Police are trying to notify family members concerning his death.

 

Johnson said Police were originally called by management at Labomba Restaurant, 3706 Governors Drive, regarding possible drug activity. Police were called a second time on a similar complaint.

 

Johnson said the joint investigations by the Major Crimes Unit and Internal Affairs are nearly completed. Chief Rex Reynolds said the Shooting Review Board is scheduled for December 19^th. Chief Reynolds would like to respond to a great number of questions the community has surrounding the shooting deaths of the two men, but he will wait until the investigations are complete. Reynolds will review the findings before sending them over to the District Attorney’s office to be given to a Madison County grand jury.
