DUI Checkpoints Announced For New Years Eve Weekend
Huntsville, Alabama (December 28, 2005) The Huntsville Police Department’s DUI Task Force will initiate checkpoints over the New Years Eve weekend. Task Force supervisor Sgt. Juan Joyner said they would run checkpoints from Friday, December 30th – Sunday, January 1, 2006. Joyner said no matter how often they announce the checkpoints in advance, people still believe they can get behind the wheel after having too much to drink. He said, “We want people to get the message don’t drink and drive. Since the DUI Task began full-time in October, DUI arrests are up 70 percent.” The legal limit in Alabama for driver drivers over the age of 21 is .08. For juveniles under 21, the legal limit is .02 The announced checkpoints are as follows:
