Huntsville Joins Statewide Buckle Up Campaign

Huntsville, Alabama (May 12, 2006) The Huntsville Police Department will be one of many law enforcement agencies looking to see if drivers and passengers have their seat belts on next week.

 Police spokesman Wendell Johnson said Officers will visibly look to see if people are wearing their seatbelts during the statewide “Buckle Up in Your Truck Campaign” which begins Monday, May 11th and concludes Friday May 19^th.  Huntsville Police will concentrate their efforts on main streets such as University Drive, I-565, Airport Road, Carl T. Jones, and North and South Memorial Parkway.  The purpose of the campaign is to save lives and prevent serious injuries.

 Huntsville Police will also work joint details with Alabama State Troopers, Madison County Sheriff’s Department, UAH, A&M,  Gurley, New Hope, Owens Crossroad and City of Madison.
