Medical Call Leads to Meth Lab Bust
Huntsville, Alabama (June 13, 2006) On Monday, June 12, 2006 about 10:30 a.m., Huntsville Police Officers responded to an unknown medical call at Wal-Mart on Highway 431 South in Hampton Cove. Officers observed Dwight Richard Schrimsher (DOB 10/29/56) in a vehicle talking with HEMSI paramedics. One of the Officers spotted a small machine gun in plain view in Schrimsher’s car and he was immediately taken into custody. The Officer then located an active red phosphorus meth lab inside Schrimsher’s vehicle.
Police spokesman Wendell Johnson said Madison-Morgan County STAC Agents responded to process the lab. Agents recovered methamphetamine, xanax, drug paraphernalia, and a machine gun at the scene. Agents estimated the lab could produce approximately two ounces of Meth upon completion.
Schrimsher was charged with First Degree Unlawful Manufacture of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Xanax and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He also faces additional charges for the weapon violation.
