Five Juveniles Arrested In Homeless Man’s Attack

Huntsville, Alabama (August 8, 2006) Huntsville Police Investigators with the West Precinct have arrested 4 juveniles between the ages of 13 – 15 for the assault on a homeless man Tuesday morning. Sixteen-year-old James William Whited of Union Grove, Alabama has been charged as an adult and booked in the Madison County Jail and charged with Assault 2nd degree. Police spokesman Wendell Johnson said the 3 boys and one girl have been charged with Assault 2nd degree and they will be booked into the Madison County Juvenile Detention Center. Another juvenile is expected to be arrested in connection with the case. The six are charged in the assault of Craig Steven Rupert who was allegedly assaulted by the teens with sticks and golf clubs. Investigators did not release a motive for the attack.

Johnson said this incident involving these juveniles was an isolated incident, and it is not related to other cases where homeless individuals were attacked or robbed.
