Huntsville Police to Enforce Bicentennial Park Rules
Huntsville, Alabama (August 9, 2005) Now that the celebration is complete, the preservation of Huntsville’s Bicentennial Park has begun. The Huntsville Police Department in conjunction with other city agencies want to ensure the park is preserved for citizens and not destroyed by vandals. Police Officers have already stepped up patrols in the area including other sites in downtown Huntsville.
Police Chief Rex Reynolds said the City will enforce a “Zero” tolerance on vandalism, and any other activities that damage the Bicentennial Park. Police enforcement will include uniformed patrol vehicles and Bike Units in and around the downtown area. Video cameras are being used to monitor traffic and ensure citizens comply with city ordinances regarding skate boards, skates, bikes and the use of other items that could damage tiles or brick sidewalks.
