Unknown Shooter Ends All Night Crime Spree

Huntsville, Alabama (August 11, 2006) Huntsville Police responded to the Huntsville Hospital Emergency room shortly after 6:30 this morning to discover Erik Lamont Jones, 26-years-old, had been shot by an unknown individual. Further investigate by West Precinct Investigator Missy Lackey determined Jones was shot by an unknown assailant while he and 25-year-old Gartrell Drake were breaking into vehicles at a Huntsville apartment complex. Jones’ injuries were not life threatening and after being treated and released by Huntsville Hospital; he was booked into the Metro Jail on a charge of Receiving Stolen Property. Drake was charged with Receiving Stolen Property and Possession of Cocaine. Several stolen items were recovered in their possession and the investigation into the vehicle burglaries is ongoing. There is also an investigation into the shooting incident.
