Huntsville, Alabama (April 26, 2005) Investigators with the Department’s West Precinct have made an arrest in an overnight attempted car jacking. Police spokesman Wendell Johnson said 24-year-old Robert Lewis Culbertson, 4407 Saundra lane Drive has been charged with Attempted Murder and Robbery First Degree. He allegedly attacked a Huntsville woman Monday night in an attempted carjacking. Johnson said Culbertson is a suspect in a convenience store robbery in Guntersville. He remains in the Metro Jail, no bond has been set.
In an unrelated case, Investigators have charged two individuals with a recent rash of apartment burglaries in the Old Madison Pike area. Johnson said 21-year-old Charles Tony Aldridge, of 2607 Academy Drive, #802 and 19-year-old John Bernard Benson of 3227 Westheimer Drive # 2 have been charged with one count of Burglary. Johnson said Investigator Lane Eason has recovered property, guns, computers and electronics that link the two suspects to as many as 30 burglaries. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are pending. Both men remain in Metro Jail. No bond has been set yet.
