Huntsville Police, “No Fireworks Allowed in City Limits.”
Huntsville, Alabama (June 29, 2005) Police spokesman Wendell Johnson said the Department will strictly enforce a Huntsville ordinance that makes it unlawful for any person to use, possess, display, or sell fireworks within the city limits. Johnson said anyone caught violating the city ordinance over the long 4th of July weekend, or anytime are subject to having their fireworks seized and destroyed by Police.
Johnson said in some cases, police might confiscate fireworks and leave citizens with a warning. In more severe cases, individuals could face community service, jail time or fines upon conviction.Johnson said the minimum fines and penalties upon first conviction is $100.00 or imprisonment for not more than ten days.For conviction upon a second offense committed within a year, an individual faces a fine of $200.00 and jail time for up to 30 days.
A third or subsequent offense could lead to a fine of $500.00 or imprisonment for up to 3 months.
