HPD Checkpoints Will Increase 4th of July Weekend
Huntsville, Alabama (June 30, 2005) The Huntsville Police Department’s DUI Task Force and Uniform Patrol will have an increased vigilance this holiday weekend. Sgt. Juan Joyner, DUI Task Force Supervisor says they will run announced as well as unannounced checkpoints starting Friday, July 1, 2005 thru Monday, July 5, 2005.
The aggressive traffic enforcement will look for motorists driving under the influence, motorist ignoring posted speed limits and other traffic violations. In Alabama a person 21 years and older is legally intoxicated at point-zero-eight. (.08) For juveniles under the age of 21, the legal limit for intoxication is point-zero-two (.02) Motorist should also provide a valid drivers license, proof of insurance and vehicle registration.
The DUI Task Force will set up checkpoints between the hours of 11:30 p.m. until 3:30 a.m. at the following locations.
Holmes and Jordan
Pulaski and Oakwood
Wall Triana and Electronics Blvd
Church Street and Pratt Ave.
South Parkway and Cox
University Drive and Rideout Road
Whitesburg and Teakwood
Pulaski Pike and Holmes Ave.
