Campaign Results in 142 Citations

Huntsville, Alabama (June 8, 2005) Huntsville Police Officers issued 142 tickets during a national campaign to get people to buckle up. Police spokesman Wendell Johnson said 82 tickets were issued for motorists who Failed to Wear a Seat Belt, at least 7 people were arrested on Misdemeanor Warrants, 22 people were cited for Failure to Provide Proof of Insurance and eleven motorists were cited for Operating a Vehicle where the Drivers License was Restricted, Suspended or Revoked.

Johnson said Huntsville Police issued 27 citations for various other violations such as Running a Red Light, Vehicle Equipment Violations, Failure to Provide Proof of Insurance, Expired Tags or Giving False Information.

The “Click It or Ticket” checkpoints were conducted across the City of Huntsville from May 23^rd – June 3^rd 2005.
