Wendell Johnson, Sr. (256) 427-7043 Wendell Johnson was appointed as a civilian public affairs administrator in 1995. A native of Detroit, Michigan, he is responsible for all external communications for the Huntsville Police Department. He works closely with community groups and the media in promoting existing programs. Wendell serves on the boards of several organizations and political groups where he has been recognized for his contributions on behalf of young people and the community.
EDUCATION Wendell attended public schools in Detroit, Michigan following the Morehouse College where he majored in Political Science. Wendell received his Bachelor of Science from the School of Journalism, Media and Graphic Arts of Florida A&M University.
EMPLOYMENT As a member of the U. S. Army, Wendell served as a Military Policeman and News Anchor for the American Forces Radio and Television in Berlin, Germany. After being honorably discharged for the U.S. Army, Wendell worked in numerous capacities in television news, serving as a managing editor, executive producer, anchor and reporter at local television stations as well as the surrounding communities of Chattanooga, Mobile, Tallahassee, Raleigh and Atlanta.
