Quick Tip
Crime Prevention Tip
Thieves hate bright lights. Install outside lights and keep them on at night. Keep your yard clean. Prune back shrubbery so it doesn't hide doors or windows. Cut back tree limbs that a thief could use to climb to an upper-level window.

Supporting the Crime Prevention Program is the Huntsville Community Watch Association. This organization is comprised of coordinators and other leaders of all active Watch groups. They, along with the Huntsville Police Department's Crime Prevention Unit, assist in the establishment and day-to-day maintenance of all Community Watch groups.

The Huntsville Police Department organized its' first Community Watch in 1979. Citizen involvement has been the key factor in the success of this program. Today over 150 Watch groups have been formed, ranging in size from 25 members to over 800 households. Over 12,000 households have joined this effort in helping to make their communities safer places in which to live, work and play.
