The City of Huntsville Parks and Recreation Department
provides leisure time activities
through a zone-based services concept. The City is divided
geographically into four
zones, each providing activities through
leagues located within the zones. In addition, Huntsvilles
Youth Services Program
is housed in two of the City's recreation centers.
The City of Huntsville also provides quality
recreation facilities designed to encourage tourism and increase revenue
aquatic programs, as well as through the operation of several disc golf courses,
Hays Nature Preserve, Metro Kiwanis SportsPlex, Merrimack Soccer Complex, Splash Pad, Lydia Gold Skatepark and the City of Huntsville Dog Spot.
In our efforts to provide recreational opportunities to all citizens of Huntsville, the Department offers a Special Populations program for the physically and mentally challenged from pre-school through senior citizens. This program originates in the Max Luther Community Center.
