"Play Days at Hays" June Schedule

Invasive Plants Workshop
Saturday, June 12th 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Operation Green Team is partnering with the Alabama Invasive Plant Council and the Flint River Conservation Association to inform the public about the dangers of 15 invasive exotic plants in this area and how they are taking over our yards, roads, and natural areas where you walk, picnic and bike. The workshop will be held at 320 Fountain Circle, and will include identification, control and reporting of outbreaks. Information and registration are available at 427-5116.

Flint River Cleanup
Saturday, June, 19th at 9 a.m. - until

Operation Green Team invites you to help clean up The Flint River on Saturday June 19th. The Flint River Conservation Association and North Alabama Canoe and Kayak are partnering with Operation Green Team to clean up the Flint River. Both river rats and landlubbers are essential to getting tires and appliances out of the river itself and loads of trash at river crossings. A picnic will be served for volunteers at Hays Nature Preserve picnic area. Rental canoes are available to experienced canoeists. This event will truly make you feel like you have contributed to the water quality of our only canoe-friendly river in Madison County. If weather/water levels prohibit canoeing a cleanup will be held from the shorelines. Contact Operation Green Team Park Naturalist Soos Weber by calling 256- 427-5116.
